Another tiny fairy.

This is a little fairy found in a hedgerow. She must have fallen out of a bird’s nest. The Naturalist found her rubbing her eyes and blinking sleepily and he has yet to discover what fairy family she originates from. This makes her very special. She may have remained in the nest after the bird family flew south for the winter and when she awoke, she tottered on the edge and fell before she got the knack of flitting away. The Naturalist has taken her in for the coming winter months and he will study her before releasing her in the spring. He thinks she is a spring rose fairy. But one can never be certain, especially with toddler fairies such as this!

Were there fairies present at the signing of the Declaration of Independence? Certainly! They flitted and fluttered about, in fact, many mistook their nocturnal sparkles as fireworks and it is because of these patriotic fairies we now twirl sparklers on the 4th of July! This is a little know fact! Frances Scott Key got some of this mixed up with the rockets red glare. This particular fairy now spends much of her time with her horse flies in post offices and mail bags spreading fairy dust all over the fruited plain. This is, in fact, how the Naturalist found this fairy, she was napping in his mailbox with her pony express horse fly friends. She is a homespun fairy, no nonsense and simple. Her silver heart is a testament to her love for America and declares that she is a patriot!IMG_6817.jpg

This summer sky fairy loves to look up into the sunny sky. She is squinting as a result. Her simple little poppy petal dress has been stained yellow by the bright rays of the sun and her golden tousled hair is just as bright and cheery. Everything she comes into contact with is bleached bright and light with a faint pink glow, just like a setting sun at twilight. She carries with her a bit of fairy identification in her bottle, which swings from her perch.

These are the by-laws of The Secret Fairy Society. They will always remain on top and all new posts will follow.

The Secret Fairy Society
will meet in the deep glen today.
We are lunching on tables of twig wood,
in our root hollow fern cabaret

Our poppy seed goblets are brimming
with sweet fairy morning dew wine.
Turn left at the old willow weeping,
then right at the blue columbine.

We will listen to Lily O’Valley
our most famous sprite authoress.
We hear she will tell us a story
of the South Wind’s brief summer caress.

Announcements as always will follow.
An urgent report we relay:
of wee Reeny Wren of Oak Hollow
Who fell when the nest went astray.

We must stress you adhere to
the dress code.
Wear gossamer, moonlight,
please gleam.

Your wings should be patched
up and tidy
as we glide down the
side of the stream

This concludes our top secret newsletter.
We dispatch this our usual way.
Be watching for news coming hither
of our midsummer Fairy Soiree.
